Hand-Pulled Prints XIV International Organized sixteen years ago to present the work of top international printmakers to the San Antonio community, this biannual competition draws a large number of entries from all over the world. The premiere event of Fine Art Printmaking Month receives critical acclaim for its quality and breadth.
JUROR
KATHY VARGAS, named 2005 Texas Two-Dimensional Artist of the Year by the Texas Commission on the Arts, has exhibited with solo exhibitions internationally including a retrospective by The McNay Art Museum in San Antonio, Texas. Group shows include "Hospice: A Photographic Inquiry," a traveling exhibit commissioned by the Corcoran Gallery, Washington D.C., and "Chicano Art: Resistance and Affirmation (CARA)". Collections include Smithsonian’s American Art Museum, Toledo Art Museum, Mexican Museum in San Francisco and Sprint Collection. Vargas is Chair of the Art Department at the University of the Incarnate Word, San Antonio.
