Everyday Artistry

Mastering Social Media Photography & Printmaking

$20 per person

The advent of social media sites likes Facebook and Instagram has provided us all with an additional way to unleash our creative and artistic potential. There has been much criticism in the arts community, some of it justified, of the various undesirable effects social media has had on our perception of photography generally. However, this short course is aimed at those seeking to take their amateur photography and printmaking skills to the next level.

We will start by assessing and celebrating some popular Texas Instagram profiles. As a group, we'll look to analyze what makes them so effective. This will include scenic and portrait work by Texan photographers Geoff Duncan and Jackie Lee Young (if you are unable to see private photos, consult this blog article by Traffikd).

As the course progresses we'll begin to incorporate printmaking work to our social media efforts. After selecting some of your favorite work, you'll have the opportunity to master digital prints and other printmaking techniques. The overall aim of this course is to introduce new artistic skills to our community whilst celebrating the indivduals and the landscape that make our home state so special.
